ABOUT ME
Hello! I am Nicole Turner Beardslee. I am the owner and operator of NTB Counseling Services. I am an LIMHP, LPC and LADC.
Basically, what that long line of letters means is that I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Professional (NE), Licensed Professional Counselor (SD and AZ) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (NE). I know, it is a mouthful! I carry licenses in the State of Nebraska, Arizona and South Dakota.
I have been a practicing mental health professional for over 14 years. I have acquired many tools of my trade and my brain is like a toolbox from which I can pick and choose the best tool for the person sitting in front of me. It is a unique process for each person rather than a cookie cutter approach.
Some of the tools in my toolbox include CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which is like the workhorse of therapy tools. In addition, I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the Gottman Method of Couples therapy and I employ Positive Psychology concepts, Jungian and Existential Therapy approaches. I am a caring, compassionate, goal oriented, solution focused, and client centered therapist.
I specialize in the treatment of trauma, depression and anxiety treatment, grief processing and substance abuse issues as well as anger management, confidence building, coping strategies, chronic medical conditions, couples counseling, life transitions, and codependency. I excel at helping my clients set healthy boundaries in their relationships, improve their sense of identity and meaning, manage stress and anger more effectively and adjust to chronic medical conditions.
Outside of work, I reside with my husband who has been a community college instructor for over 26 years along with our beloved Welsh Pembroke Corgi’s who are immensely spoiled! I am crazy for my Corgi’s! You may see a glimpse of them during telehealth sessions, as they like to sleep by my feet during appointments.
We are empty nesters and the proud parents of six amazing adult children who are out there in the world living their best lives. Two of our children are military members and my husband is a military veteran.
We are a blended family; we each had three children when we married so essentially, we are the Brady Bunch. It was organized chaos at times, but we would not have had it any other way.
I am an avid student and learner. I have been known to keep stacks of reading materials all over the place constantly researching ways I can help my clients. I am a loud and proud book nerd!
My hobbies include antique shopping (I love collecting vintage glass and furniture), spending time in nature, gardening, creative writing, bird watching, photography, listening to and collecting vinyl records and walking the Corgi’s.
